Tips for success
For the crispiest chicken, press the panko onto the cutlets firmly so it adheres well. Let the breaded cutlets rest for 5 minutes before frying; this helps the coating stick during cooking.
Use a thermometer to keep the oil at a steady 360°F (182°C) so the crust browns evenly without absorbing excess oil.
Warm the tortillas before assembling—this makes them pliable and prevents cracking. When toasting the wraps, press gently with a spatula to ensure even browning.
Slice the wraps diagonally with a sharp knife to show off the layers and make them easier to eat. Serve immediately while the exterior is crisp and the filling is still warm.
Variations
- Spicy Buffalo Style: Toss the fried chicken strips in buffalo sauce before assembling. Use blue cheese dressing instead of Caesar and add celery ribbons for crunch.
- Grilled Chicken Version: Skip the breading and grill the chicken breasts until cooked through. Slice and use in the wrap with the same Caesar salad and toasted tortilla.
- Vegetarian Option: Replace the chicken with crispy breaded tofu or halloumi. Use a vegetarian Caesar dressing and follow the same assembly steps.
- Low-Carb Lettuce Wrap: Use large romaine leaves instead of tortillas. Fill with the chicken, Caesar salad, and a sprinkle of parmesan, then roll and eat immediately.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store leftover wraps in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- Freezer
- Freeze cooked, sliced chicken strips for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight and reheat in a skillet before assembling.
- Reheat
- Reheat wraps in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side, or in a toaster oven until crisp.
Leftover wraps can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The tortilla will soften, so reheat in a dry skillet or toaster oven to restore some crispness.
The chicken can be breaded up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerated. Fry just before serving. The dressing and chopped romaine can also be prepared in advance, but toss the salad only when ready to assemble.
Serving ideas
Serve the wraps warm, sliced diagonally, with extra spicy Caesar dressing on the side for dipping. A handful of extra shaved parmesan on top adds a salty finish.
These wraps are hearty enough for a main course, but also work well as a party appetizer if cut into smaller pieces.
Pair with a cold, crisp side like pickled vegetables or a simple green salad. For a lighter meal, serve one wrap with a bowl of tomato soup.
The wraps are also great for lunchboxes—just keep the dressing separate and add it right before eating to avoid sogginess.

Crispy Chicken Caesar Wrap with Chili Dressing

Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups seasoned panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil, for frying, to taste
- 3 cups chopped romaine lettuce
- Spicy Caesar dressing, to taste
- Shaved parmesan cheese, for serving
- 4 large flour tortillas
Instructions
- Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound to an even 1/2-inch thickness. Season both sides with garlic powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.
- Place the flour in one shallow dish, the beaten eggs in a second, and the panko in a third. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip in egg, then coat with panko, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat 1/2 inch of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 360°F (182°C). Carefully lower the breaded cutlets into the hot oil and fry for 4 minutes per side, until deeply golden and cooked through.
- Transfer the fried cutlets to a wire rack or paper towels to drain. Let them rest for a few minutes, then slice into thick, juicy strips.
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped romaine, shaved parmesan, and spicy Caesar dressing. Toss until the lettuce is evenly coated.
- Lay a warm tortilla on a work surface. Place a portion of the dressed romaine in the center, top with the sliced chicken strips, and roll tightly, tucking in the sides as you go.
- Heat a dry skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the wraps seam-side down and toast for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and crisp. Slice diagonally and serve.
