Tips for success
For the most flavor, choose a high-quality honey-hickory BBQ sauce. If you like a bit of heat, add a pinch of cayenne or a splash of hot sauce to the slow cooker before cooking.
You can also swap the bourbon for a splash of apple cider vinegar for a tangier finish.
To make the ribs even more caramelized, you can transfer them to a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes after slow cooking.
This will give them a slightly charred, sticky exterior that's irresistible. Watch them closely to prevent burning.
Variations
- Spicy Peach Ribs: Add 1 teaspoon of chipotle powder or a minced jalapeño to the sauce for a smoky heat. Increase the bourbon to 1/3 cup for extra kick. Serve with pickled jalapeños for a fiery twist.
- Honey Garlic Ribs: Replace the peaches with 1 cup of pineapple chunks and use a garlic-honey BBQ sauce. Add 2 cloves of minced garlic and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce to the slow cooker for an Asian-inspired flavor.
- Cherry Bourbon Ribs: Swap the peaches for 2 cups of pitted cherries and use a cherry-infused BBQ sauce. The tartness of the cherries balances the sweetness of the bourbon and sauce beautifully.
- Smoky Maple Ribs: Use maple-flavored BBQ sauce and add 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika. Replace the peaches with sliced apples for a fall-inspired version. The smoky and sweet flavors are perfect for autumn.

- Freezer
- Freeze cooked ribs in an airtight container or freezer bag for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
- Reheat
- Reheat ribs in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 10-15 minutes, or in the microwave in 30-second bursts until heated through.
Store leftover ribs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The sauce will thicken as it cools; reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of water or broth if needed to loosen the sauce.
You can assemble the ribs in the slow cooker insert the night before, cover, and refrigerate. In the morning, place the insert in the slow cooker base and cook as directed. This makes it easy to start dinner before work or a busy day.
Serving ideas
Serve these ribs with classic southern sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or collard greens.
The sweet and smoky flavors pair well with creamy mashed potatoes or a fresh green salad. For a low-carb option, serve over cauliflower rice or alongside roasted vegetables.
Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives for a pop of color. The peaches are a delicious addition—serve them spooned over the ribs or on the side.
This dish is hearty enough to be a main course, but also great for a casual BBQ spread.

Slow Cooker Peach Bourbon BBQ Ribs

Ingredients
- 2 lb baby back pork ribs
- 2 cups sliced ripe peaches (fresh or frozen)
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1 cup honey-hickory barbecue sauce
Instructions
- Place the baby back ribs in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker, arranging them in a single layer if possible, cutting the racks to fit if needed. Scatter the sliced peaches evenly over the ribs, then pour the bourbon over the top. Drizzle the honey-hickory barbecue sauce generously over the entire surface, ensuring the ribs are well coated.
- Cover the slow cooker with the lid and set it to cook on low heat for 6 to 7 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bone. Avoid opening the lid during cooking to maintain the heat and moisture. Let it rest for 3 minutes before slicing.
- After 6 hours, carefully open the lid and test the ribs with a fork. The meat should be tender and nearly falling off the bone. If not yet tender, continue cooking for another 30 to 60 minutes. When done, the internal temperature of the meat should read at least 145°F (63°C) on an instant-read thermometer. Let it rest for 3 minutes before slicing.
- Turn off the slow cooker and let the ribs rest in the sauce for 10 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute and makes the meat even more succulent.
- Using tongs or a fork, carefully lift the ribs from the slow cooker and place them on a serving platter. Spoon some of the peaches and sauce over the top. Serve hot, with extra sauce on the side if desired.
