Tips for success
For the crispiest fries, spread them in a single layer with space between each piece and avoid turning them too often. If using an air fryer, follow the manufacturer's instructions for best results.
To keep the wraps warm while toasting, place them on a baking sheet in a low oven (200°F/95°C) after they come off the skillet.
When rolling the wrap, use a firm but gentle pressure to compress the filling without squeezing out the sauces. If the lavaş tears slightly, it's okay—the toasting will help seal it.
For a cleaner slice, let the wrap rest for a minute before cutting, and use a serrated knife with a sawing motion.
Variations
- Spicy Chorizo Version: Replace the chicken tenders with cooked chorizo sausage and add sliced jalapeños to the filling. Use a spicy chipotle mayo for extra heat.
- Vegetarian Delight: Swap the chicken for crispy breaded mushrooms or halloumi fries. Add roasted red peppers and a drizzle of tahini sauce for a Mediterranean twist.
- BBQ Bacon Wrap: Add crispy bacon bits and replace the sweet chili sauce with smoky barbecue sauce. Omit the chipotle sauce and use extra garlic mayo.
- Breakfast Style: Use breakfast potatoes instead of fries, add scrambled eggs and sausage, and top with a drizzle of maple syrup and hot sauce.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store leftover wraps in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet or toaster oven to restore crispness.
- Freezer
- Wraps can be frozen for up to 1 month. Thaw in the fridge overnight and reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven until hot and crispy.
- Reheat
- Reheat frozen or thawed wraps in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 10-15 minutes, or until heated through and the exterior is crispy.
Leftover wraps can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, place them in a skillet over medium heat for a few minutes per side, or in a toaster oven until heated through and crisp. Avoid microwaving, as it will make the bread soggy.
The components can be prepared ahead: bake the fries, cook the chicken, and make the sauces up to a day in advance. Store them separately in the refrigerator.
When ready to serve, reheat the fries and chicken in the oven, warm the lavaş, and assemble. The assembled wraps are best eaten fresh, but can be toasted and refrigerated for a quick meal.
Serving ideas
Serve the wraps whole or sliced in half on a large platter, with extra sauces on the side for dipping.
They pair wonderfully with a crisp green salad or a bowl of pickled vegetables to cut through the richness. For a casual gathering, cut the wraps into smaller pieces and serve as appetizers.
These wraps are a complete meal in themselves, but they also shine alongside a bowl of tomato soup or a simple coleslaw. For a festive touch, garnish the platter with fresh herbs and extra pickles. The contrast of hot, crispy wrap and cool, crunchy fillings makes every bite exciting.

Loaded Chicken Fry Dürüm Wrap with Cheddar

Ingredients
- 200 g frozen French fries
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- 150 g crispy fried chicken tenders
- 2 deep-fried onion rings
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1/2 cup sliced dill pickles
- 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 2 tbsp creamy chipotle burger sauce
- 2 tbsp garlic mayonnaise
- 2 large Turkish lavaş flatbreads
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread the frozen French fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Bake according to the package directions until golden and crispy, about 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and keep warm.
- While the fries bake, warm the lavaş flatbreads in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds per side, or wrap them in foil and place in the oven for the last few minutes of baking. Keep them covered to stay pliable.
- In a large bowl, combine the hot fries, cheddar cheese slices, crispy chicken tenders, onion rings, shredded lettuce, and sliced pickles. Toss gently to mix, allowing the cheese to start melting from the heat of the fries.
- Drizzle the sweet chili sauce, creamy chipotle burger sauce, and garlic mayonnaise over the loaded fries mixture. Stir gently to coat everything evenly without breaking the fries.
- Place one warmed lavaş on a clean work surface. Spoon half of the filling into the center, spreading it into a log shape. Fold the bottom edge over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll tightly to form a compact wrap. Repeat with the remaining lavaş and filling.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the wraps seam-side down and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until golden brown and crisp on the outside and the cheese is fully melted inside.
- Transfer the toasted wraps to a cutting board. Let them rest for 1 minute, then slice each wrap in half on a diagonal. Serve immediately while hot, with extra sauce on the side if desired.
