Tips for success
For the best results, use a 6-quart slow cooker to ensure even cooking. If your slow cooker runs hot, check the dish earlier to prevent overcooking.
Stir gently when combining the ingredients to keep the tortellini intact. For a golden, bubbly top, you can switch to high for the last 15 minutes, but watch closely to avoid burning.
This recipe is forgiving—feel free to add extra vegetables like bell peppers or spinach. If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a splash of milk or chicken broth before serving.
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days and taste even better the next day as the flavors meld.
Variations
- Add Vegetables: Stir in 2 cups of baby spinach or chopped kale during the last 30 minutes of cooking for extra greens. You can also add sliced bell peppers or zucchini with the mushrooms.
- Spicy Kick: Add 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the Alfredo sauce for a spicy twist. You can also use spicy Italian sausage instead of meatballs.
- Chicken Version: Substitute the beef meatballs with cooked, shredded rotisserie chicken. Add it during the last hour of cooking to heat through without drying out.
- Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free tortellini and ensure the meatballs and Alfredo sauce are gluten-free. Check labels carefully, as some sauces contain wheat.

Crockpot Mozzarella Meatball Tortellini: 10-Minute Prep

Ingredients
- 2 lb homestyle Italian beef meatballs
- 20 oz fresh spinach-and-cheese tortellini
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 15 oz Alfredo sauce
- 8 oz cream cheese, cut into cubes
- 2 cups shredded whole-milk mozzarella
Instructions
- Place the beef meatballs in an even layer in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker. Scatter the fresh spinach-and-cheese tortellini over the meatballs, followed by the sliced cremini mushrooms. Pour the Alfredo sauce evenly over the top, making sure to cover the tortellini and mushrooms.
- Place the cubed cream cheese in the center of the slow cooker. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the top, covering the cream cheese and the rest of the ingredients.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4 hours, or on high for 2 hours, until the meatballs are cooked through and the tortellini is tender. The sauce should be bubbling around the edges and the cheese melted and creamy.
- After 3 hours on low (or 1.5 hours on high), check the internal temperature of a meatball with an instant-read thermometer. It should read at least 160°F (71°C). If not, continue cooking and check again in 30 minutes.
- Once the meatballs are cooked through and the tortellini is tender, stir the mixture gently to combine the melted cream cheese and mozzarella into the sauce. Serve hot, straight from the slow cooker or spooned onto plates.
