Tips for success
For the crispiest chicken, make sure the oil is hot before adding the strips. Test by dropping a breadcrumb into the pan; if it sizzles immediately, the oil is ready.
Use tongs to turn the chicken gently to avoid knocking off the coating. Let the cooked chicken rest for a minute before assembling the wraps so the juices redistribute.
When toasting the wraps, don't skip the pressing step. Pressing with a spatula ensures even browning and helps the wrap hold its shape.
If you're making more than two wraps, keep the cooked ones warm in a 200°F oven while you toast the rest. Serve immediately with extra dressing on the side for dipping.
Variations
- Buffalo Chicken Wrap: Swap the chili powder and smoked paprika for a tablespoon of Buffalo hot sauce mixed into the egg wash. Toss the cooked chicken in extra hot sauce before wrapping. Use blue cheese dressing instead of Caesar for a tangy kick.
- Chicken Avocado Wrap: Add sliced avocado to the wrap along with the Caesar salad. The creamy avocado pairs well with the spicy chicken and adds a fresh, buttery texture. For extra crunch, add a few tortilla chips inside.
- Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap: Skip the breading and instead grill the seasoned chicken strips in a hot skillet or grill pan until charred and cooked through. Slice and wrap with the Caesar salad. This version is lighter but still full of flavor.
- Spicy Shrimp Caesar Wrap: Substitute the chicken with large shrimp, seasoned with the same spice mix and coated in panko. Cook until pink and crisp, about 2 minutes per side. Check that the shrimp reach 145°F. Proceed with the wrap assembly and toasting.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store leftover wraps in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet or toaster oven to restore crispness.
- Freezer
- Freeze uncooked breaded chicken strips for up to 2 months in a single layer on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag.
- Reheat
- Reheat cooked wraps in a toaster oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes, or in a skillet over medium heat until hot and crisp.
Store leftover wraps tightly wrapped in foil or plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The tortilla will soften, but the filling will stay fresh. To maintain crispness, reheat in a toaster oven or skillet rather than a microwave.
You can prepare the breaded chicken strips in advance and keep them covered in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before cooking.
The Caesar salad can also be assembled ahead, but keep the dressing separate and toss just before assembling the wraps. Cooked wraps can be made ahead and reheated, but they are best enjoyed fresh.
Serving ideas
Serve these wraps warm, cut in half on a diagonal, with extra Caesar dressing for dipping.
They're hearty enough for dinner on their own, but you can add a simple side of roasted potatoes or a light soup. For a casual meal, set out the wraps on a platter and let everyone grab one.
The wraps also work well for lunch or a packed meal. If taking them to go, wrap each half in parchment paper and secure with a toothpick. They hold up well at room temperature for a few hours, but if you're packing them for later, keep the dressing separate to avoid sogginess.

Crispy Spicy Chicken Caesar Wrap Toasted in Minutes

Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast, sliced into strips
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 4 cups Caesar salad (romaine, shaved parmesan, creamy dressing)
- 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch)
- extra creamy Caesar dressing, for dipping, to taste
Instructions
- Slice the chicken breast into strips about 1/2-inch thick. In a bowl, combine the chili powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken strips. Place the beaten eggs in one shallow dish and the panko breadcrumbs in another. Dip each chicken strip into the egg, letting the excess drip off, then coat thoroughly in the panko, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a thin layer of oil. When the oil shimmers, carefully place the breaded chicken strips in a single layer, working in batches if needed. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until the coating is deep golden brown and crispy. The chicken is done when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest strip reads 165°F (74°C). Transfer to a plate.
- Lay a flour tortilla on a clean work surface. Pile about 1 cup of Caesar salad down the center, leaving a border at the top and bottom. Arrange the hot chicken strips over the salad. Fold the bottom of the tortilla up over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll tightly into a sealed wrap. Repeat with the remaining tortillas, salad, and chicken.
- Wipe the skillet clean and return it to medium heat. Place the wraps seam-side down in the skillet, in batches if necessary. Toast for 2 to 3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the tortilla is golden brown and crackly. The wrap should feel firm and crisp when pressed. Cut each wrap in half on a diagonal and serve with extra Caesar dressing for dipping.
