Tips for success
To keep the chicken crispy, serve it immediately after saucing. If you need to hold it, keep the sauce warm in a separate bowl and let guests drizzle it over their own portions.
This prevents the crust from becoming soggy. For an extra-crispy texture, you can double-fry the chicken: fry for 3 minutes, let it rest, then fry for another 1-2 minutes until deeply golden.
The sauce can be made ahead and reheated gently over low heat, adding a splash of milk to thin it if needed. If you have leftover sauce, it's delicious over pasta or roasted vegetables.
For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mixture or a dash of hot sauce to the finished dish.
Variations
- Spicy Buffalo: Increase the hot sauce to 1/2 cup and add 1 tbsp melted butter to the marinade. After frying, toss the chicken in extra buffalo sauce. Replace the Alfredo sauce with a blue cheese or ranch dip.
- Herb and Lemon: Omit the paprika and add 1 tsp lemon zest and 2 tbsp chopped fresh thyme to the breadcrumb mixture. Serve with a lighter lemon-garlic sauce made by substituting half the heavy cream with chicken broth and adding lemon juice.
- Cajun Style: Swap the paprika for 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning in the marinade and add 1 tsp dried oregano to the breadcrumbs. Serve with a creamy Cajun remoulade sauce instead of Alfredo.
- Parmesan Crusted: Add 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese to the breadcrumb mixture for an extra cheesy crust. Reduce the sesame seeds to 2 tbsp. The Alfredo sauce can be replaced with a simple marinara for a different flavor profile.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 375°F (190°C) oven for 10 minutes to restore crispness.
- Freezer
- Freeze the fried, unsauced chicken strips on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 2 months.
- Reheat
- Reheat chicken strips in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for 8-10 minutes until hot and crispy.
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. The chicken may lose its crispness, but it can be reheated in an air fryer or oven to restore some crunch. The sauce can be stored separately for up to 4 days.
You can marinate the chicken up to 2 hours in advance. The breaded, uncooked chicken strips can be refrigerated for up to 4 hours before frying. The sauce can be made a day ahead and refrigerated; reheat gently before serving.
Serving ideas
Serve these chicken Alfredo fries as a fun appetizer for parties or game day. They're also hearty enough to be a main course, paired with a simple green salad or roasted vegetables.
The dish is best enjoyed fresh, with the contrast of crispy and creamy at its peak.
For a complete meal, serve alongside a Caesar salad or garlic bread. The Alfredo sauce is rich, so a light, crisp side balances it well.
You can also set out extra sauce for dipping, along with additional hot sauce for those who like more heat.

Crispy Garlic Parmesan Chicken Alfredo Fries

Ingredients
- 2 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into long slender strips
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup hot sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, grated
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp dried parsley
- 2 cups vegetable oil, for frying
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Cut the chicken breasts into long, slender strips about 1/2 inch wide. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, hot sauce, grated garlic, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder until combined. Add the chicken strips and toss to coat thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours.
- In a shallow dish, combine the panko breadcrumbs, sesame seeds, and dried parsley. Set up a dredging station with the marinated chicken and the breadcrumb mixture. Press the breadcrumbs firmly onto each chicken strip so they adhere well, then place the coated strips on a plate.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the coated chicken strips in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C). Drain on a wire rack.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute more. Gradually whisk in the heavy cream and milk, and bring to a simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened, then stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Pile the crispy chicken strips on a serving platter. Drizzle generously with the warm Alfredo sauce and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
