Tips for success
For an extra-crispy crust, let the coated chicken rest for 10 minutes before frying. This allows the flour to adhere better and helps create a more even crust. You can also season the flour with a pinch of salt and pepper to boost the flavor of the coating.
To keep the sandwich from becoming soggy, spread the dressing on both the top and bottom buns, and place the lettuce on top of the chicken rather than directly on the bun. This creates a barrier that protects the bread from moisture. Serve immediately for the best experience.
Variations
- Spicy Kick: Add 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture for a spicy version. You can also drizzle hot sauce over the chicken before assembling the sandwich.
- Grilled Chicken: For a lighter take, grill the seasoned chicken cutlets instead of frying. Cook over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes per side until cooked through, then assemble the sandwich as directed.
- Bacon Caesar: Add crispy bacon strips to the sandwich for extra smokiness. Cook 4 slices of bacon until crisp, then layer them on top of the chicken before adding the romaine.
- Avocado Caesar: Add sliced avocado for creaminess. Mash half an avocado and spread it on the bottom bun before layering the chicken, or simply add slices on top of the chicken.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store leftover fried chicken and dressing separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Freezer
- Freeze the fried chicken cutlets in a single layer on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag for up to 1 month.
- Reheat
- Reheat fried chicken in a 375°F (190°C) oven on a wire rack for 10-12 minutes until hot and crispy. Avoid microwaving, as it makes the crust soggy.

To reheat, place the chicken on a wire rack set over a baking sheet and warm it in a 375°F (190°C) oven for about 10 minutes, or until heated through and crispy. The dressing can be refrigerated for up to 5 days in a sealed container.
The Caesar dressing can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator. The chicken can be breaded and refrigerated for a few hours before frying, but it’s best to fry it fresh for the crispiest result.
You can also fry the chicken ahead and reheat it in the oven, but the crust will soften slightly.
Serving ideas
Serve the crispy chicken Caesar sandwich immediately after assembling, while the chicken is still hot and the bun is toasted.
Pair it with a simple side of chips, a pickle spear, or a light green salad for a complete meal. The sandwich is hearty enough to stand alone, but a cold drink and some crunchy sides make it even more satisfying.
For a fun twist, serve the sandwich with extra Caesar dressing on the side for dipping. You can also add a few extra shaved parmesan shingles on top for a more decadent finish.
This sandwich is perfect for lunch, dinner, or even a game-day spread—it’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Crispy Chicken Caesar Sandwich: Golden, Crunchy, Quick

Ingredients
- 1 large chicken breast (about 8 oz)
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1 cup water
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil for frying, to taste
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 brioche buns, split and toasted
- 2 cups chopped romaine lettuce
- 1/4 cup shaved parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Place the chicken breast on a cutting board and slice it in half horizontally to create two thin cutlets. Pound each cutlet to an even 1/2-inch thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin. Season both sides with garlic powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg with the water until well combined. Place the flour in another shallow bowl. Working with one cutlet at a time, dredge the chicken in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the egg wash, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat again in the flour, pressing gently to create craggy layers.
- Pour about 1 inch of vegetable oil into a large skillet and heat over medium-high until it reaches 375°F (190°C). Carefully lower the coated cutlets into the hot oil, working in batches if needed. Fry for about 5 minutes, turning once, until deep golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a wire rack set over a baking sheet to drain.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, grated parmesan, and lemon juice until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if desired.
- Split the brioche buns and toast them cut-side down in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden and lightly crisp. Alternatively, toast them in a toaster or under the broiler.
- Spread a generous amount of the Caesar dressing on the cut sides of each toasted brioche bun. Toss the chopped romaine with a little of the dressing in a bowl. Place the fried chicken cutlet on the bottom bun, top with the dressed romaine, and sprinkle with shaved parmesan. Cap with the top bun and press gently.
- Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the sandwich in half with a decisive cut to show off the crispy chicken and layers. Serve immediately while the chicken is still hot and the bun is toasted.
