Tips for success
For the best cheese pull, serve the ring warm, within 10 minutes of baking. As it cools, the cheese will set and become less stretchy.
If reheating leftovers, place them in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5-7 minutes to restore crispness and melt the cheese again. Avoid microwaving, as it can make the dough soggy.
To make ahead, assemble the ring up to the point of brushing with butter, then cover and refrigerate for up to 4 hours.
When ready to bake, brush with butter again if needed and bake as directed, adding 2-3 minutes to the baking time. This is perfect for entertaining when you want to prep in advance.
Variations
- Pepperoni Pizza Ring: Add a layer of pepperoni slices over the cheese before folding the dough. Brush with garlic butter and sprinkle with extra parmesan. Serve with pizza sauce for dipping.
- Spinach and Artichoke Ring: Mix 1/2 cup chopped spinach and 1/2 cup chopped artichoke hearts with the mozzarella sticks before stuffing. Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the butter.
- Buffalo Chicken Ring: Toss 1 cup shredded cooked chicken with 1/4 cup buffalo sauce. Place a spoonful of the chicken mixture on each dough triangle along with the mozzarella. Brush with butter and bake.
- Sweet Cinnamon Ring: Omit garlic and herbs. Brush the dough with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Stuff with a piece of cream cheese instead of mozzarella. Bake and drizzle with icing.

Serving ideas

This dish also works as a side for soups or stews. The buttery, cheesy bread is a comforting accompaniment to tomato soup or chili. For a brunch spread, serve alongside scrambled eggs and fresh fruit. The ring is versatile and can be tailored to any occasion.

Cheesy Garlic Butter Pull-Apart Crescent Ring

Ingredients
- 2 cans refrigerated crescent dough sheets (8 oz each)
- 16 mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 cup warm marinara sauce, for serving
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the crescent dough sheets and separate into 16 triangles. On a round baking sheet, arrange the triangles in a starburst pattern with the wide bases overlapping in the center and the pointed tips pointing outward.
- Place one mozzarella stick on the wide base of each dough triangle, just above the overlapping center. Fold the pointed tip of each triangle over the cheese and tuck it under the base to seal.
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Italian seasoning, and grated parmesan cheese. Stir well to blend.
- Using a pastry brush, generously brush the garlic herb butter mixture all over the surface of the dough ring, making sure to cover all the exposed dough and the seams.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 18 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed, and the cheese is bubbling.
- Remove the ring from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with the warm marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
