Tips for success
For the best flavor, use a high-quality chili crisp oil with visible chili flakes and crispy garlic.
The oil not only adds heat but also a crunchy texture that makes each bite interesting. If you prefer a milder dish, start with 1 tablespoon and adjust to taste.
When searing the chicken, avoid moving it too much in the pan. Let it cook undisturbed for 4 minutes per side to develop a deep golden crust. This fond will later flavor the sauce, so don't skip this step.
Variations
- Shrimp Alfredo: Swap the chicken for 1 pound of peeled and deveined shrimp. Sear the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through (145°F/63°C). Follow the same sauce and pasta steps, topping with the shrimp.
- Vegetarian Mushroom Alfredo: Skip the chicken and sauté 8 oz of sliced cremini mushrooms in the butter until golden. Add the garlic and continue with the sauce. The mushrooms add an earthy depth that pairs well with the chili crisp.
- Extra Spicy: Increase the chili crisp oil to 3 tablespoons and add 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the sauce. Garnish with additional chili crisp and sliced jalapeños for a fiery kick.
- Crispy Bacon Topping: Cook 4 slices of bacon until crispy, crumble, and sprinkle over the finished dish. The smoky saltiness of bacon complements the spicy cream sauce beautifully.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently with a splash of milk or water to restore the creamy texture.
- Freezer
- Freeze in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
- Reheat
- Reheat in a skillet over medium-low heat, adding a splash of cream or water to loosen the sauce. Stir frequently until heated through, about 5 minutes.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The sauce may thicken as it sits; when reheating, add a splash of milk or water to loosen it.
Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave, stirring occasionally, until warmed through.
You can prepare the chicken and sauce ahead of time. Sear the chicken, slice it, and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Make the sauce and keep it separate. When ready to serve, cook the pasta, reheat the sauce, and combine. This makes weeknight dinners a breeze.
Serving ideas
Serve the chili crisp chicken Alfredo hot, straight from the skillet, with extra chili crisp oil on the side for those who want more heat.
A simple green salad with a lemon vinaigrette balances the richness. Crusty bread is perfect for sopping up every last bit of sauce.
For a beautiful presentation, twirl a generous portion of pasta onto a fork and place it in the center of a shallow bowl. Arrange the chicken slices on top and sprinkle with scallions. A final drizzle of chili crisp oil adds a glossy finish and a pop of color.

Spicy Chili Crisp Chicken Alfredo: One Pan, 30 Minutes

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 large)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp spicy crunchy chili crisp oil
- 12 oz fettuccine pasta
- 2 tbsp sliced scallions (green parts only)
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts on both sides with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Add the chicken and sear for 4 minutes per side, until deeply golden and cooked through. Transfer to a cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing into strips.
- After the chicken rests, slice it into 1/2-inch thick strips. Set aside while you make the sauce.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add the heavy cream and minced garlic. Bring to a gentle simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cream is slightly thickened.
- Whisk in the grated parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Stir in 2 tablespoons of chili crisp oil. Continue to simmer for 2 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce is velvety and orange-flecked.
- Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the fettuccine according to package directions until al dente. Drain well, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water.
- Add the drained fettuccine to the skillet with the sauce. Toss everything together over medium heat until the pasta is completely coated and glossy. If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water to loosen it.
- Arrange the sliced chicken on top of the pasta. Drizzle with an extra tablespoon of chili crisp oil for more heat and crunch.
- Sprinkle the sliced scallions over the top. Serve immediately, twirling the pasta onto forks for a beautiful presentation.
