Tips for success
For the most flavorful sauce, use a good-quality Parmesan and grate it yourself. Pre-grated cheese contains cellulose, which can prevent smooth melting.
Also, don't skip smashing the garlic—this technique releases more surface area for flavor while keeping the cloves intact enough to avoid burning. Fresh rosemary is hardy and holds up well to long cooking, but if using dried, add it in the last hour to prevent bitterness.
If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking to let some liquid evaporate. For a lighter version, you can reduce the cream cheese to 6 ounces, but the sauce will be thinner. To make the dish more indulgent, stir in a splash of heavy cream at the end. Serve with crusty bread to soak up any extra sauce.
Variations
- Chicken Version: Swap the turkey for boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs. Adjust cooking time: chicken breasts may cook slightly faster, so check for doneness at the 3-hour mark on LOW.
- Add Vegetables: Stir in sliced mushrooms, carrots, or green beans along with the potatoes. Root vegetables will hold up well, while green beans can be added during the last 30 minutes.
- Herb Swap: Substitute fresh thyme or sage for the rosemary. Use 2 sprigs of thyme or 4 sage leaves, and if using dried herbs, reduce to 1 teaspoon.
- Spicy Kick: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a diced jalapeño along with the garlic for a subtle heat that balances the creamy sauce.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The sauce will thicken when chilled; add a splash of broth when reheating.
- Freezer
- Freeze in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
- Reheat
- Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat, stirring occasionally, until warmed through.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The sauce will thicken as it cools. To reheat, warm gently in a saucepan over low heat, adding a splash of chicken broth or milk to loosen the sauce.
Alternatively, microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until heated through. The turkey and potatoes will remain tender.
This recipe can be assembled the night before. Place all ingredients in the slow cooker insert, cover, and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, place the insert in the slow cooker base and cook as directed.
You may need to add 30 minutes to the cooking time since the ingredients start cold. Alternatively, cook the dish fully, then refrigerate and reheat gently before serving.
Serving ideas
Serve this dish over fluffy white rice, brown rice, or your favorite grain to soak up the creamy sauce. The rice provides a neutral base that lets the garlic-herb flavors shine.
For a low-carb option, serve over cauliflower rice or alongside steamed green beans. The dish also pairs well with a simple green salad dressed with lemon vinaigrette to cut through the richness.
For a more substantial meal, add a side of crusty bread for dipping into the sauce. The creamy Parmesan sauce is the star, so be sure to spoon it generously over the turkey and potatoes. Leftovers make excellent sandwiches—pile the turkey and potatoes on a roll and drizzle with extra sauce. This recipe is also great for meal prep, as it reheats well.

Parmesan Garlic Herb Turkey Cutlets: Easy Slow Cooker Dinner

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb boneless turkey breast cutlets
- 1 lb baby Yukon Gold potatoes, halved
- 6 cloves garlic, smashed
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Place the turkey breast cutlets in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker in a single layer. Scatter the halved baby potatoes, smashed garlic cloves, and fresh rosemary sprigs over the turkey.
- Place the block of softened cream cheese in the center of the slow cooker, right on top of the turkey and potatoes. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan evenly over everything.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, or on HIGH for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, until the turkey is cooked through and the potatoes are fork-tender. Do not stir during the first 2 hours of cooking to allow the cream cheese to melt gently.
- Once the turkey is cooked through, gently stir the sauce to combine the melted cream cheese and Parmesan into a velvety sauce. If desired, use two forks to shred the turkey into large chunks, or leave the cutlets whole.
- Spoon the turkey, potatoes, and creamy sauce over hot cooked rice or your favorite grain. Garnish with extra fresh rosemary if desired, though the video serves it simply.
