Tips for success
For the best texture, choose ribs that are uniform in size so they cook evenly. If the rack is too large for your slow cooker, cut it into two or three sections.
You can also remove the membrane from the back of the ribs—this is optional but allows the seasoning to penetrate better. Use a paper towel to grip and pull it off.
When serving, use a sharp knife to cut between the bones for clean portions. The peaches can be served as a chunky compote alongside the ribs.
If you prefer a thicker sauce, transfer the sauce from the slow cooker to a saucepan and simmer over medium heat for 5 to 10 minutes until reduced. This is an optional step, but it intensifies the flavor.
Variations
- Smoky Chipotle Peach Ribs: Replace the Kansas City BBQ sauce with a smoky chipotle BBQ sauce. Add 1 chipotle pepper in adobo, minced, for extra heat. Reduce the bourbon to 2 tablespoons to balance the spice.
- Apple-Bourbon Ribs: Swap the peaches for 2 apples, peeled and sliced. Use apple cider instead of bourbon for a non-alcoholic version. Add a pinch of cinnamon for a warm, autumnal twist.
- Honey-Garlic Peach Ribs: Stir 2 tablespoons honey and 3 minced garlic cloves into the BBQ sauce before pouring over the ribs. This adds a sticky, savory-sweet layer that complements the peaches.
- Spicy Peach Jalapeño Ribs: Add 1 jalapeño, seeded and thinly sliced, with the peaches. Use a spicy BBQ sauce and increase the bourbon to 1/3 cup to balance the heat. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat gently in a covered skillet over low heat, adding a splash of water if needed.
- Freezer

- Reheat
- Reheat in a covered skillet over low heat, or in the microwave in 30-second bursts, until heated through.
Store leftover ribs and sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. The flavors will continue to meld, and the ribs can be reheated gently in the microwave or on the stovetop. For best results, reheat in a covered skillet over low heat with a splash of water or extra BBQ sauce to keep them moist.
This recipe is ideal for making ahead. Assemble the ribs, peaches, bourbon, and sauce in the slow cooker insert the night before, cover, and refrigerate.
In the morning, place the insert in the slow cooker and cook on low as directed. Alternatively, cook the ribs fully, then cool and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving.
Serving ideas
Serve the ribs as the main event, with extra sauce spooned over the top. The peaches are a delicious bonus—they are soft, sweet, and infused with bourbon and BBQ flavor. Pair with classic sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or baked beans. For a low-carb option, serve over cauliflower rice or a crisp green salad.
For a casual gathering, cut the ribs into individual pieces and arrange on a platter with the peaches and sauce. Provide plenty of napkins, as the ribs are sticky and finger-licking good.
A side of pickles or pickled onions cuts through the richness. This dish also works well as a sandwich filling—just pile the meat on a soft bun with a spoonful of sauce.

Georgia Peach BBQ Baby Back Ribs: Slow-Cooker Dump Dinner

Ingredients
- 2 lb pork baby back ribs
- 3 ripe peaches, sliced
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1 1/2 cups thick Kansas City BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Place the pork baby back ribs in the bottom of a 6-quart or larger slow cooker, arranging them side by side and slightly overlapping if needed. Scatter the sliced peaches over the ribs, then pour the bourbon evenly over the top.
- Pour the thick Kansas City BBQ sauce over the ribs and peaches, using a spatula to spread it evenly and coat the meat. Make sure the sauce covers the top of the ribs generously.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours, or until the ribs are tender and the meat easily pulls away from the bone. Avoid opening the lid during cooking to keep the heat steady. Let it rest for 3 minutes before slicing.
- After 6 hours, check the ribs by lifting one with tongs. The meat should be very tender and starting to pull away from the bone, but still holding its shape. If not, continue cooking for another 30 minutes. Let it rest for 3 minutes before slicing.
- Turn off the slow cooker and let the ribs rest in the sauce for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute and makes the meat easier to handle.
- Using tongs or a carving fork, carefully lift the ribs out of the slow cooker and place them on a serving plate. Spoon some of the peaches and sauce over the top, and serve hot.
