Tips for success
For the best texture, serve the mini baklava rolls the same day they are baked. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
To reheat, place them in a 300°F (150°C) oven for 5 minutes to restore crispness. Avoid microwaving, as it will make them soggy.
These rolls are versatile: you can add a drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of chopped pistachios for extra flavor.
They also freeze well—bake them without the powdered sugar, cool completely, and freeze in a single layer. When ready to serve, reheat in the oven and dust with sugar.
Variations
- Pistachio Baklava Rolls: Replace the walnuts with finely ground pistachios and add a pinch of cardamom. After baking, drizzle with honey and sprinkle with crushed pistachios.
- Chocolate Walnut Rolls: Add 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips to the walnut filling. The chocolate melts during baking, creating a gooey, decadent center.
- Spiced Apple Rolls: Add 1/2 cup finely chopped dried apples and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg to the filling. The apple adds a chewy texture and fruity note.
- Orange Blossom Baklava Rolls: Add 1 tablespoon orange blossom water to the filling and a teaspoon of orange zest. Drizzle with honey and orange syrup after baking.

Serving ideas
Serve these mini baklava rolls as part of a dessert spread, alongside coffee or tea. They are also lovely on a holiday cookie tray or as a sweet ending to a dinner party. The powdered sugar dusting makes them look elegant and festive.
For a more indulgent presentation, drizzle with honey or warm syrup before serving. You can also sprinkle with chopped pistachios or rose petals for a touch of color. These rolls are best enjoyed warm, when the pastry is at its crispiest.

Crispy Walnut Puff Pastry Mini Baklava Rolls

Ingredients
- 4 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup finely ground walnuts
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted, for brushing
- Powdered sugar, for dusting, to taste
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the finely ground walnuts, powdered sugar, melted butter, and ground cinnamon. Stir until the mixture forms a cohesive, crumbly paste. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each puff pastry sheet until thin and elongated, about 1/8-inch thick. Keep the remaining sheets covered with a damp towel to prevent drying.
- Evenly spread a quarter of the walnut mixture over each rolled-out pastry sheet, leaving a small border at the edges. Press the filling gently so it adheres to the pastry.
- Starting from the long edge, tightly roll each pastry sheet into a log, pinching the seam to seal. With a sharp knife, slice each log into two-finger-wide pieces, about 1 1/2 inches each.
- Place the mini rolls cut-side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving a little space between each. Brush the tops generously with the melted butter reserved for brushing.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes, or until the rolls are puffed, deeply golden, and crisp. The pastry should sound hollow when tapped.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm.
