Tips for success
For the crispiest wraps, use a heavy-bottomed skillet that distributes heat evenly. Cast iron or stainless steel works well. Press down gently with a spatula while toasting to ensure even browning. If making a large batch, keep the cooked wraps warm in a low oven (200°F) while you toast the rest.
To prevent sogginess, avoid overfilling the wraps with sauce. A thin layer of Alfredo sauce is enough to add flavor without making the tortilla wet. Also, let the cooked chicken rest for a few minutes before assembling, so the juices redistribute and don't pool in the wrap.
Variations
- Spicy Buffalo Chicken: Toss the cooked chicken with 1/4 cup buffalo sauce before assembling. Replace the Alfredo sauce with ranch dressing and use pepper jack cheese for a spicy kick.
- Vegetarian Mushroom Alfredo: Omit the chicken and sauté 2 cups of sliced mushrooms with the same seasonings. Use a vegetarian Alfredo sauce and follow the same assembly and toasting steps.
- BBQ Chicken Wrap: Swap the Alfredo sauce for barbecue sauce, and use cheddar cheese instead of mozzarella. Add a little red onion and fresh cilantro for extra flavor.
- Mediterranean Chicken Wrap: Use a garlic herb sauce instead of Alfredo, and substitute feta cheese for mozzarella. Add sliced Kalamata olives and sun-dried tomatoes before rolling.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store leftover wraps in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side until crispy.
- Freezer
- Assembled wraps can be frozen before toasting. Wrap each in plastic wrap and place in a freezer bag. Freeze for up to 2 months.
- Reheat
- To reheat, place the wraps in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side, or in a toaster oven at 350°F until hot and crispy.
Store leftover wraps in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To keep them crispy, reheat in a skillet or toaster oven rather than the microwave.
If storing assembled wraps, place a piece of parchment paper between them to prevent sticking. For best texture, reheat within 2 days.
You can prepare the seasoned chicken and cook it up to 2 days in advance. Store it in the refrigerator and assemble the wraps when ready to serve. The Alfredo sauce can also be made ahead and kept in the fridge.
Assemble the wraps just before toasting to keep the tortillas crisp. If you want to prep the entire wrap, assemble them and refrigerate for up to 24 hours, then toast just before serving—add a minute or two to the cooking time.
Serving ideas
Serve the wraps whole or sliced in half on the diagonal to show off the gooey, cheesy interior. Arrange them on a platter with a small bowl of extra garlic Alfredo sauce for dipping.
A side of marinara sauce or a simple green salad complements the richness. These wraps are hearty enough to be a main course, but they also work as an appetizer if cut into smaller pieces.
For a complete meal, pair the wraps with a crisp Caesar salad or roasted vegetables. The creamy sauce and melted cheese are rich, so a light, acidic side balances the flavors.
If serving for a crowd, cut the wraps into bite-sized pinwheels and secure with toothpicks. They are best enjoyed warm, straight from the skillet.

Crispy Chicken Alfredo Wraps with Garlic Sauce

Ingredients
- 2 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, sliced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp avocado oil
- 1 1/2 cups garlic Alfredo sauce
- 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Slice the chicken breasts into thin, even strips. In a small bowl, stir together the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and salt. Sprinkle the seasoning over the chicken slices and toss to coat evenly. Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken in a single layer and cook without stirring for 2–3 minutes, until browned on the bottom. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Lay the flour tortillas on a clean work surface. Spread a generous spoonful of garlic Alfredo sauce down the center of each tortilla, leaving a border at the edges. Divide the cooked chicken evenly among the tortillas, placing it in a line. Top each with a handful of shredded mozzarella. Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll tightly from the bottom, tucking in the filling as you go. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the wraps seam-side down in the skillet. Cook for 2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Use a spatula to press gently on the wraps as they cook. When both sides are deeply golden and the cheese is melted, remove from the skillet. Let cool for 1–2 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra garlic Alfredo sauce for dipping.
