Tips for success
To achieve the perfect cheese pull seen in the video, always use whole-milk mozzarella cheese rather than part-skim. Whole-milk mozzarella has a higher fat content, which translates to a much stretchier, creamier melt.
Additionally, letting the cheese cool slightly during the fifteen-minute rest period helps it regain some structure, allowing it to stretch beautifully when lifted with a fork rather than tearing or sliding off the slice entirely.
If you find your Alfredo sauce is a bit too thick to spread easily during assembly, you can whisk in a tablespoon or two of milk or heavy cream to loosen it slightly before layering.
When spreading the sauce over the pasta sheets, pay special attention to the corners and edges of the dish. Ensuring these areas are well-coated prevents the pasta from drying out and turning crunchy during the baking process.
Variations
- Spinach and Mushroom Alfredo Lasagna: Sauté fresh baby spinach and sliced cremini mushrooms with the ground beef to add earthy flavors and extra texture to the creamy layers.
- Spicy Alfredo Beef Lasagna: Add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the ground beef seasoning and use a pepper jack cheese blend for a spicy kick.
- Chicken and Bacon Alfredo Lasagna: Substitute the ground beef with shredded cooked chicken breast and crumbled crispy bacon for a classic flavor combination.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Ensure it cools for no more than 2 hours before chilling.
- Freezer
- Freeze baked or unbaked lasagna tightly wrapped in foil for up to 3 months. Thaw completely in the fridge before baking.
- Reheat
- Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 2 minutes, or bake covered with foil at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes.
Allow the cooked lasagna to cool to room temperature for no more than two hours to ensure food safety. Cover the baking dish tightly with plastic wrap or transfer individual portions to airtight containers before placing them in the refrigerator.
Properly stored lasagna will remain fresh and delicious for up to four days, making it an excellent option for weekly meal prep.
This lasagna can be fully assembled up to twenty-four hours in advance. Cover the unbaked dish tightly with plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator. When ready to bake, remove the plastic wrap, cover with aluminum foil, and bake as directed, adding about ten minutes to the covered baking time to account for the cold temperature of the dish.
Serving ideas
Serve this rich and creamy lasagna alongside a crisp, green garden salad tossed in a light vinaigrette. The acidity of the dressing provides a refreshing contrast to the decadent, velvety Alfredo sauce and savory beef.
Warm garlic bread or crusty Italian bread is also an excellent accompaniment, perfect for scooping up any extra creamy sauce left on the plate.
For a beautiful presentation, slice the lasagna into neat squares using a sharp knife, wiping the blade clean between cuts. Serve each square on a light-colored plate to make the distinct layers of meat, pasta, and golden cheese stand out. Garnish with an extra sprinkle of fresh parsley or a light dusting of freshly grated Parmesan cheese just before serving.

Creamy Alfredo Beef Lasagna with Melted Mozzarella

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp seasoning
- 3 cups Alfredo sauce, store-bought or made ahead
- 12 oven-ready lasagna sheets
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Sprinkle with the seasoning. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned throughout and reaches a safe internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) to ensure it is fully cooked. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread 1/2 cup of the Alfredo sauce over the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place 3 to 4 lasagna sheets on top of the sauce, overlapping them slightly if necessary to cover the bottom.
- Spread half of the seasoned cooked ground beef over the pasta sheets. Pour 1 cup of Alfredo sauce evenly over the beef, then sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, starting with another layer of pasta sheets, the remaining beef, 1 cup of Alfredo sauce, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Place the final layer of pasta sheets on top. Pour the remaining Alfredo sauce over the noodles, spreading it to cover them completely. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top layer.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil, ensuring it does not touch the cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Carefully remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted, golden, and bubbling at the edges.
- Remove the lasagna from the oven and sprinkle the finely chopped fresh parsley over the hot melted cheese. Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before slicing. This allows the layers to set, ensuring clean slices when serving.
