Tips for success
For the best texture, use very ripe peaches and blood oranges—they’re sweeter and juicier, which means you can use less added sugar. If the fruit isn’t at its peak, you can add a teaspoon of honey or agave, but taste first.
Also, make sure the crushed ice is actually crushed, not cubed; you can crush ice in a blender by pulsing it a few times before adding the fruit.
The chocolate curls are easiest to make when the chocolate is cold and firm. If it starts to soften, pop it back in the fridge for a few minutes.
You can also use a vegetable peeler to make wider curls, but the box grater gives the light, fluffy texture that looks beautiful on top. For a dairy-free version, use a dairy-free white chocolate, but note that it may not curl as well.
Variations
- Mango Citrus Cooler: Swap the peaches for ripe mango chunks and use regular orange juice instead of blood orange. The mango adds a tropical sweetness that pairs well with the strawberries.
- Berry Mint Cooler: Add a handful of fresh mint leaves to the blender with the fruit. The mint brightens the citrus and adds a cooling note. Garnish with a mint sprig.
- Spiced Chocolate Curls: Use dark chocolate with a pinch of cinnamon or chili powder for the curls. The spicy chocolate contrasts nicely with the sweet fruit.
- Coconut Cream Swirl: Add 2 tablespoons of coconut cream to the blender for a richer, creamier texture. The coconut flavor complements the peach and strawberry.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Stir well before serving. The texture will be thinner, but the flavor remains bright.
- Freezer
- Freeze in an airtight container for up to 1 month. Thaw slightly and re-blend with a little juice to restore texture.
- Reheat
- Not applicable—serve cold. If frozen, thaw in the fridge and re-blend with a splash of juice.
This cooler is best enjoyed immediately, as the ice melts and the texture changes. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. The fruit may settle, so give it a good stir before serving. It will lose some of its frosty texture but will still taste good.
You can prep the fruit up to a few hours ahead: slice and dice the blood oranges and peaches, hull the strawberries, and keep them in separate containers in the fridge.
Grate the chocolate and store it in an airtight container at room temperature. When ready to serve, just layer everything in the blender and blend.
Serving ideas
Serve this cooler in tall glasses with a wide rim so the orange wheel can sit nicely. For an extra touch, rim the glasses with a little sugar or salt before pouring—though the video doesn’t show that, it’s a subtle way to enhance the citrus.
The drink is thick enough to eat with a spoon, so you can also serve it in bowls with a straw.
You can double the recipe and blend in batches, but don’t overfill the blender—work in two batches if needed. Garnish each glass with a fresh orange wheel and a generous sprinkle of chocolate curls for a beautiful presentation.

Blood Orange Peach Strawberry Citrus Frost Cooler

Ingredients
- 2 Crimson Blood Oranges, sliced into wheels and diced
- 2 Golden Peaches, diced
- 1/2 cup orange white chocolate, grated into curls
- 1/2 cup Crimson Blood Orange Juice
- 1 cup red strawberries, hulled and halved
- 2 cups crushed ice
Instructions
- Slice the Crimson Blood Oranges into thin wheels. Set aside one wheel for garnishing the rim of the glass. Dice the remaining orange wheels into small pieces. Dice the Golden Peaches cleanly, removing the pit and any tough skin. Grate the solid block of orange white chocolate on the box grater into a fresh pile of ivory chocolate curls. Keep the curls in a small bowl.
- Measure the Crimson Blood Orange Juice into a liquid measuring cup. Hull the red strawberries and halve them lengthwise. Have the crushed ice ready. Arrange all the prepared ingredients near the blender so the next phase goes quickly.
- Add the diced blood oranges, sliced peaches, red strawberries, and crushed ice into the glass blender pitcher in that order. Pour the blood orange juice over the top. Lock the lid securely onto the pitcher.
- Blend on high speed for 30 to 45 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides once if needed. Continue blending until the mixture forms a thick, swirling vortex with visible fruit pieces and no large ice chunks remain. The texture should be like a thick smoothie or slushie.
- Pour the cooler into two chilled glasses. Garnish the rim of each glass with an orange wheel. Sprinkle a few of the reserved chocolate curls over the top of each drink. Serve immediately while still frosty.
