Tips for success
For the best flavor, use a good-quality honey chipotle sauce. If you prefer a spicier kick, add an extra teaspoon of chipotle powder or a pinch of cayenne.
If you like a sweeter sauce, drizzle a little extra honey over the turkey before serving. You can also add a splash of apple cider vinegar to the sauce for a tangy note, but this is optional.
If you have leftovers, slice the turkey and store it with the sauce in an airtight container. The flavors will continue to meld, and the turkey can be used in sandwiches, salads, or over rice.
To reheat, place in a microwave-safe dish and heat in 30-second intervals, or reheat in a skillet over medium heat with a splash of water or broth to keep it moist.
Variations
- Spicy Mango Turkey: Replace the honey chipotle sauce with a mango-habanero sauce and add 1/2 cup diced mango with the onions. The sweetness of the mango balances the heat of the habanero, creating a tropical twist.
- Smoky BBQ Turkey: Swap the honey chipotle sauce for your favorite smoky barbecue sauce, and add 1 teaspoon smoked paprika along with the chipotle powder. This gives the turkey a classic BBQ flavor with a hint of smoke.
- Citrus Chipotle Turkey: Add the zest and juice of one orange to the slow cooker along with the sauce. The citrus brightens the dish and adds a fresh note that pairs well with the smoky chipotle.
- Herbed Turkey Tenderloin: Omit the chipotle powder and use 1 tablespoon dried oregano and 1 teaspoon dried thyme instead. Use a honey mustard sauce in place of the honey chipotle sauce for a milder, herby flavor.

Serving ideas
Serve the honey chipotle turkey tenderloin with the onions and sauce spooned over the top. It pairs well with steamed rice, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables.
For a low-effort side, try a simple green salad with a citrus vinaigrette to balance the sweetness of the sauce. Warm cornbread or tortillas are also great for soaking up the extra sauce.
For a more substantial meal, slice the turkey and serve it over a bed of cooked grains, such as quinoa or farro, with a spoonful of the sauce. You can also use the turkey as a filling for tacos or burritos, adding some shredded cabbage and a squeeze of lime. The leftovers are versatile and can be repurposed into many dishes.
