Tips for success
For the best flavor, choose a BBQ sauce that you love eating straight from the jar—it's the backbone of this dish. A sauce with a balance of sweet and tangy works best.
If you want a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne or a few dashes of hot sauce along with the BBQ sauce. The peaches can be swapped for other stone fruits like nectarines or plums, but peaches are classic.
To make the sauce even more luxurious, after the ribs are done, remove them and whisk a tablespoon of butter into the sauce. This adds a silky richness.
If you have time, let the cooked ribs sit in the sauce for an extra 30 minutes on warm before serving—this deepens the flavor. For a thicker glaze, transfer the sauce to a saucepan and simmer over medium heat until reduced.
Variations
- Spicy Peach BBQ Ribs: Add 1-2 minced chipotle peppers in adobo sauce along with the BBQ sauce for a smoky heat. The sweetness of the peaches balances the spice beautifully. Serve with extra adobo sauce on the side for those who want more kick.
- Apple-Bourbon Ribs: Substitute sliced apples for the peaches and use apple cider instead of bourbon. The apples break down into a chunky sauce that pairs wonderfully with the pork. Add a pinch of cinnamon for extra warmth.
- Honey-Mustard Peach Ribs: Replace half the BBQ sauce with honey mustard. The tangy mustard cuts through the sweetness and adds a different layer of flavor. Use fresh or frozen peaches, and consider adding a tablespoon of Dijon mustard for extra zing.
- Smoky Maple Peach Ribs: Mix 1/4 cup maple syrup into the BBQ sauce and add a teaspoon of liquid smoke. The maple enhances the sweetness of the peaches and adds a deep, smoky flavor. This version is especially good with a sprinkle of smoked paprika on top before serving.

Store leftover ribs and sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. The flavors will continue to meld, making leftovers even more delicious. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of water or BBQ sauce if needed to loosen the sauce.
This dish is ideal for making ahead. Assemble the ribs, peaches, bourbon, and BBQ sauce in the slow cooker insert the night before, cover, and refrigerate.
In the morning, place the insert in the slow cooker and cook as directed. You can also cook the ribs fully, let them cool, and refrigerate—they'll keep for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving.
Serving ideas
Serve these ribs straight from the slow cooker for a casual family dinner. The meat is so tender that you can serve it with a slotted spoon, letting the sauce and peaches spoon over the top. Pair with classic sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or mashed potatoes to soak up the sauce. A crisp green salad with a tangy vinaigrette also cuts through the richness.
For a more composed plate, serve the ribs over creamy grits or polenta, with a pile of sautéed greens. The sweet bourbon-peach sauce works beautifully with the savory polenta.
You can also shred the leftover meat and pile it onto buns for incredible pulled pork sandwiches. Add a slice of peach and a drizzle of sauce for a sandwich that's out of this world.

Slow-Cooker Bourbon Peach BBQ Country Ribs

Ingredients
- 3 lb boneless country-style pork ribs
- 2 cups sliced ripe peaches (fresh or frozen)
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 2 cups thick Kansas City-style BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Place the boneless country-style pork ribs in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker in a single layer, overlapping slightly if needed. Scatter the sliced peaches evenly over the ribs. Pour the bourbon over the peaches and ribs, tilting the cooker to distribute it.
- Pour the thick Kansas City-style BBQ sauce over the ribs and peaches, spreading it with a spatula to coat as much of the meat as possible. The sauce should create a thick, glossy layer on top.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 6 to 7 hours, or on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours, until the ribs are fork-tender and easily pull apart. The sauce will darken and thicken as the peaches break down and meld with the bourbon. Let it rest for 3 minutes before slicing.
- Turn off the slow cooker and let the ribs rest in the sauce for 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute and the meat to become even more tender. If you prefer a thicker sauce, skim off some of the liquid or simmer it on the stovetop.
- Using tongs or a carving fork, transfer the ribs to a serving platter or individual plates. Spoon the bourbon-peach BBQ sauce and caramelized peach slices over the top. Serve hot, with extra sauce on the side if desired.
