Tips for success
If the bacon does not seem to stay in place, use toothpicks to secure the ends of the bacon strips to the chicken. Remember to remove these toothpicks before serving the meal to guests to ensure safe consumption of the dish.
To add extra flavor, season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, or dried herbs before adding the cheese and rolling.
This extra step ensures that the inside of the chicken is just as flavorful as the bacon-wrapped exterior.
Variations
- Spicy Version: Add a tablespoon of hot sauce or sliced jalapeños inside the chicken roll along with the mozzarella cheese. This adds a kick of heat that cuts through the richness of the cheese and the saltiness of the bacon.
- Herb Infusion: Sprinkle fresh herbs like parsley, basil, or chives over the chicken before rolling. The fresh aromatics will brighten the flavor profile and provide a nice contrast to the savory bacon and creamy sauce.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Ensure the chicken is cooled to room temperature within 2 hours before placing it in the fridge to maintain food safety standards and quality.
The chicken rolls can be assembled and kept in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours before cooking.
Do not store them for longer than this before cooking, as the raw chicken and bacon should be processed promptly to ensure maximum freshness and safety.
Serving ideas
Serve the chicken rolls immediately after the resting period to enjoy the optimal texture of the melted mozzarella.
Pair the dish with a side of steamed vegetables, a fresh green salad, or roasted potatoes to create a balanced and satisfying meal for the whole family.
For a more elegant presentation, slice the chicken rolls into thick medallions once they have rested.
This reveals the beautiful spiral of chicken, bacon, and melted cheese, making for an impressive main course that is sure to be appreciated by everyone at the table.
