Tips for success
To achieve the ultimate cheese pull, use a high-quality low-moisture mozzarella cheese. Fresh mozzarella contains too much water and can make your lasagna watery, whereas low-moisture shredded mozzarella melts beautifully into a gooey, elastic blanket.
Additionally, letting the baked lasagna rest uncovered for at least fifteen minutes before slicing is crucial. This resting period allows the proteins in the cheese to firm up slightly, holding the layers together beautifully when sliced.
If you want an even deeper garlic flavor, try roasting a whole head of garlic beforehand and mashing the sweet, caramelized cloves directly into your parmesan cream sauce.
This adds a subtle sweetness and a complex garlic aroma that pairs beautifully with the smoky bacon. You can also mix a pinch of red pepper flakes into the ground beef while browning to introduce a very subtle heat that cuts through the richness of the dairy.
Variations
- Spicy Garlic Bacon Lasagna: Add one teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes to the ground beef while browning to infuse a warm, spicy kick that balances the creamy garlic sauce.
- Spinach and Mushroom Variation: Sauté sliced mushrooms and fresh baby spinach along with the garlic, then layer them into the lasagna for added texture and earthy flavor.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.
- Freezer
- Freeze tightly wrapped slices in airtight containers or heavy-duty foil for up to 3 months.
- Reheat
- Reheat individual slices in the microwave for 2 minutes, or bake covered at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes until hot.
To store leftovers, allow the lasagna to cool completely at room temperature for no more than two hours. Cover the baking dish tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, or transfer individual slices to airtight containers.
Store the lasagna in the refrigerator for up to three to four days. The flavors actually develop and deepen as it sits, making the leftovers taste even better the next day.
This lasagna is an excellent candidate for making ahead. You can fully assemble the lasagna, cover it tightly with plastic wrap, and store it in the refrigerator for up to twenty-four hours before baking.
When you are ready to serve, simply remove the plastic wrap, cover the dish with aluminum foil, and bake as directed, adding about five to ten minutes to the covered baking time to account for the cold dish.
Serving ideas
Serve this rich and decadent lasagna alongside a crisp, bright green salad tossed in a simple lemon vinaigrette. The acidity of the dressing and the crunch of fresh greens provide a wonderful contrast to the creamy, savory richness of the pasta. A side of roasted vegetables, such as asparagus or broccoli, also pairs beautifully and adds a vibrant color to your dinner table.
For a complete comfort food feast, serve warm garlic bread or crusty Italian bread on the side. This is perfect for scooping up any extra garlic parmesan cream sauce left on the plate. Present the lasagna family-style in its baking dish, garnished generously with fresh parsley, and let everyone marvel at the towering layers and incredible aroma before you slice and serve.

Parmesan Garlic Bacon Lasagna with Crispy Topping

Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp seasoning salt and black pepper blend
- 3 cups garlic parmesan cream sauce
- 12 sheets of lasagna sheets, oven-ready
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese blend
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Place the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the bacon is crispy and golden brown. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set it aside, leaving about one tablespoon of bacon fat in the skillet for extra flavor.
- Add the ground beef and minced garlic to the skillet with the reserved bacon fat. Season with the salt and pepper blend. Cook over medium-high heat, breaking the meat apart with a spatula, until the beef is fully browned and no longer pink.
- Continue cooking the ground beef mixture for another minute to ensure it is fully cooked. Use a food thermometer to verify that the internal temperature of the ground meat reaches at least 160°F (71°C) before removing the skillet from the heat source.
- Spread a thin layer of garlic parmesan cream sauce at the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place three lasagna sheets on top. Layer with a portion of the cooked ground beef, more cream sauce, and a generous sprinkle of the shredded cheese blend. Repeat these layers twice more.
- Place the final three lasagna sheets on top of the layers. Spread the remaining garlic parmesan cream sauce over the sheets, cover completely with the remaining shredded cheese blend, and scatter the crispy cooked bacon evenly across the entire surface of the cheese.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is completely melted, bubbling, and golden brown on top. Let rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
- Sprinkle the fresh chopped parsley over the hot lasagna just before serving. Use a sharp knife and a sturdy spatula to cut the lasagna into towering squares, ensuring each slice retains its beautiful layers and gooey cheese pull.
