Tips for success
To keep the chicken extra crispy, let it rest on a wire rack after frying rather than on paper towels, which trap steam and soften the crust.
When toasting the wraps, use medium heat and give them enough time to develop a deep golden color—this ensures the tortilla is crisp all the way through, not just on the surface.
If you're making a large batch, keep the fried chicken warm in a low oven (200°F/95°C) while you assemble and toast the wraps.
Slice the wraps in half diagonally before serving to show off the colorful layers inside. Serve with a side of extra Caesar dressing for dipping, as the video suggests.
Variations
- Spicy Chipotle: Add a tablespoon of chopped chipotle peppers in adobo to the Caesar dressing for a smoky, spicy kick. You can also sprinkle a little cayenne pepper into the panko breadcrumbs for extra heat.
- Bacon Ranch: Swap the Caesar dressing for ranch and add crispy bacon bits along with the romaine. The smoky, salty bacon pairs perfectly with the crunchy chicken.
- Grilled Chicken Version: For a lighter option, skip the frying and grill the chicken strips on a hot grill or grill pan until cooked through. Slice and use in the wrap as directed, then toast the wrap as usual.
- Avocado Caesar: Add sliced avocado to the wrap along with the romaine and chicken. The creamy avocado complements the Caesar dressing and adds richness.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store leftover wraps in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Freezer
- Freeze uncooked breaded chicken strips for up to 3 months; fry directly from frozen, adding 2-3 minutes to the cooking time.
- Reheat
- Reheat in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side, or in an air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes.
Leftover wraps can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
To reheat, place them in a skillet over medium heat for a few minutes per side to restore crispness, or use an air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes. Avoid microwaving, as it will make the tortilla soggy.
You can prepare the chicken strips ahead of time and refrigerate them for up to 24 hours before frying. Alternatively, fry the chicken and refrigerate it, then assemble and toast the wraps just before serving.
The Caesar dressing and chopped romaine can also be prepped in advance, but keep them separate to avoid sogginess.
Serving ideas
Serve the wraps warm, cut in half, with a small bowl of extra Caesar dressing for dipping. The contrast of the hot, crispy wrap and the cool, creamy dressing is irresistible. Pair with a simple side of roasted potatoes or a light soup for a complete meal.
For a casual dinner, arrange the sliced wraps on a platter with extra parmesan on top and a sprinkle of black pepper. These wraps are also great for picnics or packed lunches—just keep the dressing separate and add it just before eating to maintain the crunch.

Crispy Chicken Caesar Wrap Toasted in Avocado Oil

Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast, sliced into strips
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups seasoned panko breadcrumbs
- 1 cup avocado oil, divided
- 1/2 cup Caesar dressing, plus extra for dipping
- 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce
- 1/2 cup shaved parmesan cheese
- 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch)
Instructions
- Place the flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs in three separate shallow bowls. Pat the chicken strips dry with paper towels. Dredge each strip in the flour, shaking off excess, then dip in the egg, letting any excess drip off, and finally press into the panko until evenly coated. Set the coated strips on a wire rack while you heat the oil.
- Pour the avocado oil into a large skillet to a depth of about 1/4 inch. Heat over medium-high heat until the oil shimmers and a pinch of panko sizzles immediately when dropped in. The oil should register 360°F (182°C) on a deep-fry thermometer.
- Carefully place a few coated chicken strips in the hot oil without overcrowding. Fry for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature of the thickest strip should reach 165°F (74°C). Transfer to a wire rack to drain and repeat with the remaining strips.
- Lay a tortilla on a clean work surface. Spread a generous spoonful of Caesar dressing down the center. Top with a handful of chopped romaine, then a few slices of the hot crispy chicken, and sprinkle with shaved parmesan. Fold in the sides and roll tightly into a burrito shape.
- Wipe the skillet clean and add a thin layer of avocado oil. Heat over medium heat. Place the wraps seam-side down in the skillet and toast for 2 minutes per side, until deep golden and crackling. Press gently with a spatula to ensure even browning.
