Tips for success
For the crispiest chicken, make sure the oil is at 360°F (182°C) before adding the strips.
If the oil is too cool, the coating will absorb oil and become greasy; if too hot, it will brown too quickly and leave the chicken undercooked. Use a meat thermometer to monitor the temperature and adjust the heat as needed.
When toasting the wraps, use a heavy skillet and a little fresh avocado oil. Place the wrap seam-side down first, and press gently with a spatula to ensure even contact.
Let the wrap toast undisturbed for the full 2 minutes before flipping, so the crust has time to develop. Slice diagonally with a serrated knife for a clean cut.
Variations
- Spicy Buffalo Twist: Toss the fried chicken strips in a little hot sauce before assembling. Add a drizzle of blue cheese dressing along with the Caesar dressing for a buffalo chicken wrap with extra heat.
- Grilled Chicken Version: Instead of frying, grill or pan-sear the chicken strips with a little salt and pepper. Skip the breading for a lighter wrap, and toast the tortilla as directed for the same crunchy exterior.
- Avocado and Bacon: Add sliced avocado and crispy cooked bacon to the salad before rolling. The avocado adds creaminess, and the bacon brings a smoky, salty crunch that pairs well with the Caesar flavors.
- Low-Carb Lettuce Wrap: For a lighter option, use large romaine leaves in place of the flour tortilla. Wrap the chicken and Caesar salad in the lettuce leaves, and skip the toasting step. Enjoy immediately.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Store leftover wraps in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a dry skillet over medium heat until crisp and warmed through.
- Freezer
- Freeze uncooked breaded chicken strips in a single layer on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 2 months.
- Reheat
- Reheat leftover wraps in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until crisp and hot.
Store leftover wraps in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The tortilla may lose some crispness, but the filling will stay fresh.
To reheat, place the wrap in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until warmed through and crisp again.
The breaded chicken strips can be prepared up to 1 day ahead and kept in the refrigerator. Fry them just before assembling the wraps. The Caesar salad can also be tossed a few hours ahead, but keep the dressing separate and add it just before assembling to prevent sogginess.
Serving ideas
Serve the crispy chicken Caesar wrap warm, straight from the skillet, with extra Caesar dressing on the side for dipping.
A small bowl of dressing lets each bite get an extra hit of creamy, garlicky flavor. Pair it with a simple green salad or a bowl of tomato soup for a complete meal.
These wraps are also great for lunchboxes or picnics. They hold up well at room temperature for a few hours, though the tortilla will soften slightly. If packing ahead, keep the dressing separate and add it just before eating. Slice the wraps in half to make them easier to handle.

Crispy Chicken Caesar Wrap Toasted in Avocado Oil

Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast, sliced into strips
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups seasoned panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup avocado oil, for frying and toasting
- 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce
- 1 cup crunchy crouton pieces
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup creamy Caesar dressing, plus more for dipping
- 4 large flour tortillas
Instructions
- Place the flour in a shallow dish. Beat the eggs in a second dish. Put the seasoned panko in a third dish. Dredge each chicken strip in the flour, shaking off excess, then dip in the egg, letting any excess drip off, and finally coat thoroughly with the panko, pressing gently to adhere. Set the breaded strips on a plate.
- Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 360°F (182°C). Working in batches, add the breaded chicken strips in a single layer. Fry for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped romaine, crouton pieces, and shredded parmesan. Add the creamy Caesar dressing and toss until the lettuce is evenly coated.
- Lay a flour tortilla on a clean work surface. Place a generous portion of the Caesar salad in the center, leaving a border. Top with hot sliced crispy chicken tenders. Fold the sides over the filling, then roll tightly from the bottom to form a burrito shape. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
- Wipe out the skillet and add a little fresh avocado oil. Heat over medium heat. Place the wraps seam-side down in the skillet. Toast for 2 minutes per side, until deep golden and crackling. Press gently with a spatula to ensure even browning.
- Let the toasted wraps rest for 1 minute, then slice diagonally. Serve with extra Caesar dressing for dipping.
