Tips for success
To achieve an even more professional look, use a piping bag to add a final flourish of sauce or cheese before the last bake. If the cheese is not browning enough during the final 15 minutes, you can briefly switch the oven to the broiler setting for 1 to 2 minutes, but keep a very close watch to prevent the cheese from burning.
If you find the lasagna is browning too quickly, tent the foil loosely over the top instead of pressing it down onto the cheese. This creates a protective barrier that still allows heat to circulate.
For a more intense flavor, incorporate a pinch of nutmeg or a dash of fresh lemon zest into the alfredo sauce before layering, which helps to cut through the richness of the cream.
Variations
- Spicy Seafood Lasagna: Add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes into the alfredo sauce before assembling. This adds a pleasant heat that cuts through the richness of the cream, making the dish feel more vibrant and bold.
- Spinach and Seafood Lasagna: Layer in fresh baby spinach leaves between the pasta and seafood. The spinach adds a wonderful color and a subtle earthy flavor that pairs perfectly with the crab and shrimp.
Storage and make-ahead
- Fridge
- Keep refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Freezer
- Freeze individual slices wrapped in foil and plastic for up to 1 month.
- Reheat
- Reheat in a 350°F oven until warmed through or microwave individual portions.
If you have leftovers, allow the lasagna to cool for no more than 2 hours at room temperature. Once cooled, cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap or transfer individual portions to airtight containers and place them in the refrigerator immediately to maintain safety and quality.
This dish is perfect for making ahead. Assemble the entire lasagna up to 24 hours in advance, cover it tightly, and keep it in the refrigerator.
When ready to bake, take the dish out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before putting it in the oven to ensure even heating. You may need to add an extra 5 to 10 minutes to the total baking time if the lasagna is cold from the fridge.
Serving ideas
Serve this lasagna with a crisp, refreshing side salad featuring a light vinaigrette to balance the richness of the creamy alfredo and seafood. A side of toasted garlic bread is also an excellent accompaniment for mopping up any extra sauce left on the plate.
For a complete dining experience, pair this meal with a chilled glass of dry white wine, such as Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay, which complements the delicate flavors of the crab and shrimp.
When plating, use a wide spatula to ensure you lift a full, clean portion without disturbing the layers. It is best to serve this dish warm, so ensure your plates are slightly warmed if possible.
Garnish each portion generously with fresh herbs like parsley, chives, or dill to add a pop of color and a fresh, aromatic finish that highlights the sweetness of the seafood and completes the presentation beautifully.

Creamy Seafood Lasagna with Rich Alfredo Sauce

Ingredients
- 12 pieces lasagna noodles, boiled until al dente
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 8 oz lump crab meat
- 32 oz alfredo sauce, store-bought or made ahead
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- fresh herbs, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the noodles and set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp and crab meat with a small portion of the alfredo sauce to coat them lightly.
- Spread a thin layer of alfredo sauce on the bottom of the 9x13 inch baking dish. Place a layer of noodles, followed by a portion of the seafood mixture and a generous sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a final layer of sauce and a thick coating of mozzarella cheese on top.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown. Ensure the shrimp reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before garnishing with fresh herbs and serving.
